Operation: Voice Your Opinion

Post below if you see an online article, video or any other news piece we should comment on as meritocrats. For example, political news, mentions of meritocracy, the financial oligarchy, etc. Especially anything that talks about Meritocracy as often these articles fail to link the absolute need of Equal Opportunity for Every Child to Meritocracy for it to work.

You can help spread Meritocratic Democracy by talking about it on any of the places we link in here. Remember the vision: A world where everyone enjoys equal opportunity to thrive.

There’s a group on our mailing list you can join to receive an email whenever something we should comment on appears. Click: http://eepurl.com/OyqN1 and tick the box that says “News items where I can talk Meritocracy and Equal Opportunities”. If you’re already subscribed to our newsletter, then you’ll need to use your existing email address and it’ll probably give you an option to update your preferences. 4th June: http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/meritocracy-is-a-myth-9483779.html

Meritocracy is what’s politely called a dead duck. A child from a ‘modest’ background can only go from rags to riches in the sense that a human being can take off if they flap their arms around wildly enough. A disadvantaged child will nearly always and everywhere become a disadvantaged adult, and if you ignore the right-wing rhetoric and look at the data you might be a little less keen on hearing the ‘M’ word in future.

I approve of this!! I’m a Journalist-This, I can really do!!!

This is a very hot topic in the UK. It is one in which if we set up some kind of response may attract some real attention.

To summarise, read the following quote: 'That the NHS has just been declared the world’s best healthcare system by the Washington-based Commonwealth Fund should be a matter of national pride. But the institution is in mortal danger. The free market crusaders who first took power in the late 1970s have long regarded it as an aberration.
‘It is an irritating example of a service run on the basis of social need, rather than private profit – and, even worse, it is loved for it. As long as it exists, it serves as a defiant reminder that there is an alternative to the neoliberal project.’

The last left wing remnant in the UK is about to start its decline and I do believe people are not happy about it. What do you think?

Did you already comment on the article? The idea is for as many of us to voice the Meritocracy perspective as soon as possibe on any important article related to our aims, i.e. as soon as the article comes out or when we’re alerted.

Sorry for the delay…I have been travelling. I am in Thailand and Wifi was not available. I will hopefully find some good articles now that I have stable internet.

Okay, no worries!

I have a story here that may be worth commenting upon. My internet is still rubbish here in Thailand, it took me long enough to log onto this site. Perhaps someone else will be able to comment, the damn thing won’t load! http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/jul/08/andrea-leadsom-family-links-offshore-bank-donations-tories

The story is about a leading conservative MP receiving donations from a banker relative.

7/16/14 (I haven’t finished reading but) This one is about billionaire’s providing education, maybe we can counter it with our views, e.g. Custom Education.

We need to change the conversation from raising the minimum wage to putting a cap on the maximum wage.
The Millionaire’s Estate Tax will allow us to start over, but what will the ratio between least payed and most payed be? What is the ideal to keep people motivated to pursue their highest potential in a company or profession while still preventing people from becoming narcissistic and looking down on others? A 1:6, 1:10, 1:20 ratio, any other suggestions?

Hi there everybody. I have this one as a suggestion. It relates to Argentina’s belief that their debt default was due to greedy New York hedge funders.

I still can’t comment myself-still in Thailand with the worst connection ever but maybe somebody will find it thought provoking.

It looks great. It would be Ideal for an introduction page including an about section in it. What is our main goal? How are we growing? How they can help? What are our objectives? etc.
